Ranney, Dennis, information provided by e-mail 2014-2016 regarding corrected names, dates of death, and military units. The source for dates of death of soldiers is Federal POW death records copied and made by General Ainsworth and his staff at the turn of the century from Union war records unless otherwise noted. The source for dates of death of civilians is Federal POW records. The dates of death may vary at times with the LSU site.

Register of Confederate Dead Interred in Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio and in Johnson's Island Confederate Cemetery near Sandusky, Ohio. Prepared by Mrs. Phillip Piton of the Franklin County Chapter of The Ohio Genealogical Society, June 1980. Data extracted from the register compiled in the War Department, Washington, D.C., in 1912, in office of Commissioner for Marking Graves of Confederate Dead. This list was prepared by Department of the Army, Chicago Administration Center, Cemetery Division, 1819 West Pershing Road, Chicago 9, Illinois. This source is cited as 1912 Register extract. [The copy of this book at the Ohio Historical Society is missing a page in the "State of Origin is Not Shown" section. A more complete extract was found at the Upper Arlington, Ohio main library. Names of men from West Virginia were not found in either version of the 1912 Register extract yet LSU cites names of men from West Virginia in the 1912 Register leading to the conclusion that the extracts at the Ohio Historical Society and Upper Arlington, Ohio library are missing the list of men from West Virginia.]

Holy Cross Parish Burial Register 1846-1860 translated from Latin. This is a parish record, not a cemetery record, and contains burials at cemeteries other than the Columbus Catholic Cemetery. This record should contain interment records of all Franklin County Catholics until 1852. In 1851/1852, St. Patrick's congregation was established for English-speaking Catholics and after 1852 the Holy Cross Parish Burial Register deals primarily with German-speaking Catholics. Unfortunately, veryfew burial records for St. Patrick's parish have survived.

Holy Cross Parish Financial Account Books translated from German which contain parish income for 1849-1880 and parish expenditures for 1849-1860. These books contain records for graves purchased in Gottes Acker or God's Acre, the German half of the Columbus Catholic Cemetery.

A comparison of significant differences between the records of Gottes Acker and the Holy Cross Parish Burial Register. The differences are mostly in the spellings of surnames and in ages, as well as 36 burials which are not in the Cemetery Record.

Holy Cross Parish Burial Register 1870-1874, list of burials for which no other burial record has been found.
